TLC is a non-profit organization, comprised of a small group of dedicated individuals, who along side the shelter's heart and soul MADALYNN GILMORE , volunteer their own time and resources, in order to rescue, care for, re-habilitate, and find good, loving permanent homes, for the ever growing large population of unwanted and abandoned cats.
TLC and associate organizations, operate under a NO KILL policy. We only adopt out healthy pets, unless classified as "SPECIAL NEEDS" - and is disclosed prior to adoption. Upon arrival to our shelter, all cats are assessed as to their specific needs, vet checked, vaccinated, cleared of any parasites, and spayed or neutered if of age. All other apparent physical / emotional needs are also taken care of before considered adoptable. When adopting out, we screen our applicants to ensure a certain criteria be met, we do not allow "DECLAWING", nor our pets to be used as BARN CATS, MOUSERS, or for any type of experimentation. A good percentage of our cats have come from abusive or stressed situations, others have been raised in one home for years, then given up for various reasons, ( poss. illness / death of an owner ). Whatever the case, all of these animals do suffer a degree of stress or emotional damage. These wonderful little pets, who are so people dependent, then have to be re-habilitated, so they may once again learn to trust in the human population, before entering a new home. All of this takes an incredible amount of time, dedication, patience and understanding.
These are but a few of the reasons why we prefer our kitties to be kept as indoor pets only. These animals have already been "rescued and repaired " once, and we don't want to chance their winding up back on the street, facing the same adverse situations, from which they came. |
